Obituary of Darlene Katherine Shepard

Grand Isle – Darlene Katherine Shepard, 79, died peacefully on Wednesday evening, January 20, 2021 at her home. Darlene was born April 8, 1941 in Burlington, the daughter of Alfred and Katherine (Gokey) Blaisdell. On July 25, 1959 she married Gerald Shepard. Darlene loved to sew and was self-employed most of her life as a seamstress. She also worked for East Coast Leotard. Darlene also enjoyed cooking, knitting, being a member of the women’s auxiliary, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Shepard, Sr. of Grand Isle and by their children, Gerald Shepard, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Grand Isle, Timothy Shepard and his wife Louise of Colchester, Tina Abentroth and her husband Tom of St. Petersburg, FL, and Karen Haines and her husband Chris of Essex, 11 grandchildren: Julia Reed, and her husband Brad, Nicholas Shepard, and his wife Lucia, Jacob, Wyatt, Silas, Travis, and Kyle Shepard, Heather and her husband Timothy Shover, Sasha Abentroth, Jason Shepard, and Brandi Sutton, 10 great grandchildren: Brayden, Zander, and Isaac Reed, Monty, Lavay, Iris, and Cypress Shepard, Callie, and Marlie, and Jillian, her brother Larry Blaisdell, and sisters Carol and Charlotte, several brother/sister-in-laws, and nieces/nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Gordon, Don, Maurice and Reggie Blaisdell. Due to COVID, Darlene’s family has decided to have a graveside service on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 1pm at Resurrection Park Cemetery in So. Burlington.
