Obituary of Alma Florence Salter

Richmond – Alma Florence Salter, 71, died peacefully with her family by her side, on November 6, 2020 at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester. Alma was born in Burlington on January 27, 1949, the daughter of Olivio and Flora (Ethier) Lussier. On November 18, 1967, she married James C. Salter at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Burlington. Alma had retired from her position as Senior Director of Alumni and Donor Records at the UVM Foundation in May 2017 after 32 years. Alma enjoyed spending time with friends and family, boating, sunsets over Mallets Bay and beers around the campfire. More than anything else though, she enjoyed being kind to others and laughing, as anyone who ever met her can attest. She is survived by her sons, James E. Salter of Colchester and Thomas J. Salter and his wife Kathleen of Worcester, MA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Abigail and Mia Salter, her sisters Alice Sutton and Aline Burritt and her brothers Gerry Lussier and his wife Cheryl and Paul Lussier and his wife Sharon. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children. Alma was predeceased by her husband James in 2018, her nephew Dustin Lussier, sister Annette Gagne and brothers-in-law Nick Gagne, Harley Sutton and Ted Burritt. Due to the COVID virus and restrictions in place with regard to large gatherings, the family has chosen to celebrate Alma’s life at a later date.
