Your family has my deepest sympathy. I’m so very sorry for your loss. I was thinking of something to say to ease the tremendous pain that your family is suffering. So I compiled this list of Scriptures that is sure to bring you comfort in this difficult time: Psalms 55:22; Proverbs 3:5, 6; Isaiah 41:10; 2 Corinthians 1: 3-7; James 4:8; and Revelation 21:4. Be strong. Cherish the memories. May the peace of God be with your family always. And please remember to call upon His name found at Psalms 83:18.

Dear Julie and David, Fred and Nick and Alex,
We are so sorry to hear of Gladys' passing. She was a special woman, so kind and always smiling. Terry first met Gladys in 2006 when her students interviewed her for their "What Happened Along the Way: Memories of the Past" book about life in South Hero in the past. Her interview took up more pages than anyone else's! She had a lot to say! She told about having 12 brothers and sisters and growing up on a farm in Westford. She said that she and Fred were the only eighth graders in their one room schoolhouse. She said her father used to call her a French name that is pronounced, "Sitszi," which means tiny. She said she was very small. In the last paragraph of the interview it says, "Interviewing Gladys Lane was very interesting. She seems to be living a very happy life. Her childhood seemed a lot harder, but somehow, more peaceful, but we both had fun. Thank you, Gladys, and I hope you know that you are very appreciated."
Jerry and I truly loved Gladys and took every opportunity we could to go visit her and Fred when they lived down on the lake or when they would come up to the winery on a Thursday night. She will be greatly missed. Love, Terry and Jerry Robinson

I extend my sincere condolences to the Lane family. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of this very special lady. I met her in 1966 when I was doing private duty nursing for Mr. Legge, who was in her adjoining apartment at the Lane farm. We had very many special times together and I always admired, respected and loved her and Fred. They were an inspiration to all. The only time I ever saw them was in past years as they were always showing their respects at a funeral home. R.I.P. Gladys. I will always remember you with fond memories.
