Obituary of Nancy C. Badger
Nancy C. Badger- Georgia- Nancy C. Badger, 77, of Georgia, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Sunday February 21, 2021. Nancy was born June 9, 1943, in Burlington, and was the daughter of the late Vincent and Lillian Lavigne. On June 10, 1961, she married the love of her life, Paul Badger, in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Essex Junction. They happily celebrated 51 years of marriage before he passed in 2012. She has dearly missed him since and has visited him every week. Reunited again, we are sure that she is watching a sunset over the lake with him in her shorts and flip flops. She loved anything cardinal, was an avid puzzle maker, and always enjoyed a good book. Her radio was always on and tuned to country music whether in the car or at home. She kept close with loved ones and friends through daily or weekly phone calls. She was very diligent on celebrating holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries with all of her friends and family through greeting cards. She was always the first Christmas card that anyone would receive right after Thanksgiving. She and Paul raised two boys, Paul “PJ” and Kevin, whom they were both very proud of. They are very strong men and get their strength from their parents who they miss very much. She was so proud of her grandchildren, Nick, Kaleb, and Avery. She loved watching Nick draw and enjoyed his creativity, especially the last cardinal drawing he made for her. She enjoyed Kaleb’s love and knowledge of cars and they shared a passion for puzzles and word searches. She loved Avery’s art, often made with a touch of humor and a lot of love, and her fantastic imagination, especially when they play Lego together. She is also going to be greatly missed by her “not a dog”, Buster. He has been her rock and his “schedule” has been a huge help to her. She will also be dearly missed by her many friends and her campground family. As they always did at the campground, she and Paul will be happily keeping the grounds mowed and flowers blooming as a team once again. Nancy worked for many years at Sears Service and most recently at Sears. Nancy, Paul, and the boys created many wonderful family memories together boating, snowmobiling, and camping. As Nancy and Paul got older, they enjoyed traveling to Florida for the winters. Nancy loved taking care of her flower beds and took great pride in keeping her yard twig and pine cone free. Nancy is survived by her children Paul “PJ” Badger and his wife Sara of South Burlington and Kevin Badger and his wife Sandy of Fairfax; her grandchildren Nicholas, Kaleb, and Avery; her brother and sisters Robert Lavigne and his wife Jo of Jericho, Joan Ruhl and her husband Irwin of Colchester, and Linda Poulin and her husband Dik of Winooski; and Paul’s brothers and sisters Louis Badger Jr. and his wife Loretta of Swanton, Betty Hurlburt of Tennessee, Marion Martel and her husband Gerard of Lunenburg, James “Jimmy” Badger and Susie King of Essex, Mary Fleiter of Colchester, and Anna Mudgett of Williston; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Paul Badger and her brother Eugene Lavigne of Tennessee. Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of the McClure Miller Respite House for the dignified and compassionate care provided to Nancy and our family in her final days. Visiting hours and a memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be May 15, 2021 in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Milton with a Celebration of Life to follow at Kevin and Sandy’s home with the time to be announced later. Memorial contributions may be made to the McClure Miller Respite House.
