Obituary of Eula Huestis Pedro

Eula Pedro, lifelong caregiver, died February 10th 2021 at her daughter's home in Underhill, VT. She was 90 years old. Eula was born in Bridport, VT. She was the thirteenth of fourteen children born to the farming family of Charles and Eula Carpenter Huestis. She is predeceased by her parents, her twelve older siblings, and her husband of forty years, Vernon Pedro. As a girl, Eula's dream was to leave the farm. She joined the Air Force intending to expand her horizons. Little did she know that she would meet and marry her husband and future traveling companion. Together they had four children. They raised them in California, Hawaii, Taiwan, Nebraska, Massachusetts, and Italy prior to settling in her home state of Vermont. While her dream was to leave the farm, it was never to leave her family. She was a dedicated caretaker her entire life. She blended her love of family with her love of music. Car rides with the kids were memorable for singing, often her favorite country songs. Radio shows were created and recorded on a periodic Friday night, only to later be destroyed by her son's solo off-key vocals. Many who think of Eula will recall a fond food memory (Portuguese sweet bread, various cookies, green chicken wings for St. Patrick's Day) and the occasional culinary fail (her recipe for Spam and noodles dies with her.) While quiet, Eula was a constant observer. She worked hard and with the understanding that there was only one way to do the job: the right way. She had a high bar under which her children could easily walk. Eula is survived by her three tone-deaf daughters and their spouses: Sallie and Lawrence Volkert, Brenda and Bruce Wilder, DeAnna and Dinh Pham, and by her favorite son, Stephen Pedro. She will be missed by her seven grandchildren: Tamara Volkert, Sr. Mary Ignatius (Jessica), Fr. Matthew, Eric, Amy, Ashley Wilder, and Mai Pham. She is also survived by her youngest sister, Evie L'Heureux, and many nieces and nephews. There will be no services at this time. www.minorfh.com
