Obituary of Dori Fairbanks
It is with Heavy Hearts, the family of Dori J. (Arnold) Fairbanks announces her untimely passing on January 15, 2021 at her residence in Grande Isle.
She was born in Burlington, Vermont and was a daughter of Robert and Janice (Caswell) Arnold. Dori graduated from Colchester High School in 1980 and attended Champlain College between 1986 and 1987 where she earned a secretarial certificate. Dori worked in many jobs until starting work for Allstate Insurance Company in 1989, working there for 14 years.
Dori was an able and valued employee fir several companies when Allstate moved the offices. Wanting to stay , close to her beloved family. Dori then worked as a parts specialist for Blodgett Oven and as a contracts administrator. Dori was always busy working many part time jobs that she loved very much, as a bartender, type setter for The Islander Newspaper, and most recently as a volunteer driver for C.I.D.E.R.
Dori was a very valuable employee, earning several performance awards for Allstate. Dori was the recipient of the Chairman’s Award, President’s Award and Employee of the Year.
In 1989 Dori met the love of her life, Ken Fairbanks. They married August 30, 2003 and resided in Dori’s home town of Grande Isle. In addition to her husband Ken, Dori is survived by her mother Janice (Caswell) Arnold, her brother Joe Arnold and his life partner Sunday Gendrow and her son Baker. Her nephew Ryan Arnold and his partner Cheyanne of Montana. She is also survived by her mother in law Flora Banks, Sisters in law, ReBecca Bromley, Laurie Vien, Gail Dixon, Wendy St. Amoure and her brothers in law Mike Fairbanks, Mark Vein, John St. Amoure.
She was predeceased by her father in law Rayburn Fairbank, her brothers in law, David Dixon and Bruce Bromley.
Anyone who knew Dori, would tell you she was a very caring person, who loved family and friends unselfishly. A lover of animals, Dori always looked forward to her time with her dog Maggie and her cats Elvis and Scratch. Dori also had a strong love of the outdoors. Dori enjoyed the outdoors by gardening, fishing, walking or just plain old kicking back in the sun with a good book.
The world lost an incredible spirit with Dori’s passing. We shall forever remember Dori as the beautiful person she was. She will forever be missed, BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN.
