Obituary of Phyllis Jane Gardner

Grand Isle – Phyllis Jane Gardner, 89, died peacefully Christmas afternoon, December 25, 2020 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, following a long illness. Phyllis was born on November 21, 1931 in Burlington the daughter of Norman and Jessie (Parizo) Blow. She had lived her whole life in Grand Isle. She was married to Percy Dubuque who died in 1982. On September 5, 1987, Phyllis married Leslie Gardner and have spent their life together on Adams Landing Road. Phyllis had worked at IBM in Essex Junction for many years. She enjoyed crafting, sewing over 47 quilts and over 30 cabbage patch babies. She also enjoyed painting and ceramics and owned her own kiln. She is survived by her husband of over 33 years, Leslie Gardner of Grand Isle and her children DeAnn Wabuti of So. Burlington, Sherry Dubuque and partner Wolf of Milton, Lori Gardner of Swanton and Michael Gardner and his wife Julie of Fl., by 10 grandchildren Robert, Cassy, Marla, Crystal, Percy, Anthony, Carrie, Marisha, Ashley and Jennifer and several great grandchildren. Phyllis is also survived by her sisters Florence Gover of So. Burlington and Dolores “Jo” Gardner of So. Hero, her daughter-in-law Diane Dubuque of Fairfax and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons Brad, Russell and Perry Dubuque, her daughter Wanda Sweetser and by her sister Madge Coro. Special thanks is given by Phyllis’s family to her caregivers Diane Tillson, Barb Patno, Phyllis Etheridge, Helen Parizo, Rosemary Rabideau and Nikki Lampman.
