Danny Coane posted a condolence

Danny Coane (of The Starline Rhythm Boys) here. My wife, Kathi, and I lived in Westford from 1969-78 and Frena was the one who signed our marriage license. I got to know her during that 6 yr period and would see her periodically thereafter - the last time being at Roland Pigeon's wake. Like the Pigeons and others, the Phillips are one of Westford's prominent, hardworking, down to earth, kind and friendly families. Frena was, indeed, an icon of that family, esp. with her tireless, selfless service to the Town. Rest in Peace, Frena, you deserve it and will always be well and lovingly remembered by the town and me personally.

I was lucky enough to grow up across the street from Mrs. Philips. Even after all these years, I always called her Mrs. Phillips. Something from a bygone era, I suppose. Whether I was blackberry picking "up back," traipsing through the meadows, going down to the barn to visit the calves and pet the kittens, "helping" with the sugaring and the haying (I was NOT much help...) - she always made me feel welcome! How I loved going to the Phillips house! It always smelled good and there was always something delicious cooking. There was always another place at the table and she never, ever had a bad day - at least not that I ever saw. Down to earth and as real as they come, Mrs. Phillips was a treasure to the Westford community and beyond. I will miss her dearly and wish her family comfort in this terrible, dark time.

Frena will be missed by all of us. She always gave me back the feeling of home & hearth each time we would meet & I’d see her smile. Her kindness, her measure of dedication not only to her home but also to public service gave us a solid role model to follow as we grew up in Westford. My condolences to her family as we share her passing and our memories of her.

She was a warm, kind and fun loving lady. Her giggle was infectious. We had such a good time when she and my dad went to England with Dennis and I. She and I were roommates during this trip, I learned a lot about the Webb family thanks to her. I will miss her greatly.
Our condolences to Chuck and his family as well as Scott and his family.

So sorry to hear of Frena’s passing. We truly hit the jackpot when we moved to Westford and into the Phillips/Bouffard neighborhood thirty-five years ago. I still remember Frena’s thoughtfulness when she brought over a macaroni and cheese after my nephew died. She would often comment how she wished she was a better neighbor, but she was wonderful. Our thoughts are with her family. We will all miss her.

Aunt Frena was a classy lady who was a joy to be around. My favorite memory of her is the trip we took to Old Orchard Beach in Maine. It was Aunt Frena, my mom, Allen & Scott, my brother Doug & me. We drove in the Phillips's pickup truck which had a cap on it. All 4 boys rode in the back for the whole trip.
