My heart grieves for all of you, but I also celebrate and am grateful for the forty-year friendship Les and I had. We shared so many interests when we first met, that it was clear we'd be friends for life. My memories tumble over themselves as I sit here to write this for you: Seeing Kominsky's Bloomers for the first time and hearing her laugh. Carrying a basket of wine and cheeses on the train so we could spend the afternoon leaf-peeping. Laughing uncontrollably about nothing. Sharing a passion for the latest book we read. Eating and drinking together at every restaurant in Vermont (at least it felt that way!). Cross-country skiing and the worst hairdos in creation. Shopping at any antiques shop or crafts fair we passed. Discussing life and love and the way we wanted to pass from this life into whatever's next.
I will always cherish the talks we've had throughout our friendship. I will miss her laugh and her sarcastic texts. I will think of her every time I see a three-legged creature or pass by her trunk or her spinning wheel, pieces of her that now take up space in my heart/home.
She was a beautiful, strong, smart, opinionated, hilarious, artistic, and loving friend. I will miss her every moment.
My heart and warmest hugs are with you, Tom, Cheryl, and Mr. Germain.
All my love,
Dawn
