Meet I remember many of day when you would tell stories listen to music and drink beer in Dave's shop. I enjoyed your company and talking gardening, family and good times... I will never forget those dance moves you and Alan kicked but with the moves. I know you will be with those you love now and the party will go on! I am sure the tomatoes are always ripe where you are going. Peace my friend.

As a young boy growing up in Westford, I went with my Dad to Merton's sawmill many times. The mill was loud, saw-dusty, and more than a little scary to an 8-year-old. I also remember Merton as being a giant of a man, at least 8' tall, wearing heavy boots, suspenders (I think), and he always had some sort of measuring stick in his hand that he used to somehow calculate the lumber he could get from a particular log. Fifty-odd years ago and it still sticks in my mind. I'm sorry to hear of Merton's passing and I wish all the best to you, his family.
