South Hero – Alan Walter Pidgeon, 82, died peacefully late Sunday evening, June 14, 2020 at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, surrounded by his loving family. Alan was born on September 13, 1937 in Burlington, the son of Walter and Carlyss (Frechette) Pidgeon. He grew up in South Hero, living there all of his life. He also loved bird watching. Alan is survived by his wife of 36 years, Maureen Pidgeon of So. Hero; by his sons Kenneth Pidgeon and his wife Sherry of Williston and Scott Pidgeon and his wife Kimberly of Essex; his first wife, Virginia Largent of Fayetteville, NC; and by Maureen’s son William “Will” Liporace and his wife Lois of Niskayuna, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren Nicholas and wife Sarah; Elizabeth; Thomas and wife Kaitlyn; Megan; by his brother Winston Pidgeon and his wife Mary of South Hero and his sister Elinor Burttram of North Hero and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Sarah Marie Pidgeon May 14, 2008. A private burial will be in the South Hero Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all of Alan’s care-givers over the past year including the VNA nurses and therapists, and personal friend and physician, Dr. Mark Pitcher.
