Obituary of Patricia Ann (Welch) Brassard
Colchester – Patricia Brassard, 84, of Colchester, Vermont peacefully passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 from metastatic breast cancer at home with family by her side.
Pat was born in Portland, Maine on January 6, 1936, the youngest child of the late James S. Welch and Eva Cribby Welch. She was raised in and attended schools in South Portland, Maine with some of her fondest memories playing in the marching band and attending band camp.
On September 24, 1955, Patricia married the love of her life, the late Edmund W. Brassard who predeceased her on January 7, 2008. Together they proudly raised a family of four kind and compassionate children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Life led Pat, Ed and their family to many homes including Cape Elizabeth, Maine; South Portland, Maine; Brewer, Maine; Montreal, Quebec, Canada; and Burlington, VT where they created many friendships and fond memories.
Patricia enjoyed her career as an administrative assistant including positions at Union Mutual Life Insurance in South Portland, Maine; and most especially at Pomerleau Insurance Agency in Burlington, Vermont where she was employed for over 20 years.
Patricia is survived by her four children and their families: daughter Maureen Johnson and husband Robert Johnson of Zephyrhills, FL; daughter Sharon Brassard, of Colchester, VT; son Michael Brassard, of Colchester, VT; and daughter Suzanne Rapalje and husband Kevin Rapalje of Colorado Springs, Co.; grandchildren Melissa Johnson and partner Elizabeth Thurman of Oak Ridge, TN; Christine Johnson Erbschloe and husband Scott Erbschloe of Leicester, NC; Justin Leombruno and fiancée Alexandra Jones of Bound Brook, NJ; Courtney Leombruno of Essex Junction, VT; Carter Rapalje of Colorado Springs, CO; Daniel Brassard of Essex Jct., VT; Jenna Brassard of Williston, VT; Jacob Brassard of Williston, VT; and great-grandchild Hunter Erbschloe. She is also survived by her dearest friends Joanne Slade of Scarborough, Maine and Nancy Bates of Williston, VT.
A Memorial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Patricia’s name may be made to your local Humane Society or any other Animal Rescue Organization.
