Obituary of Adam Davey LeGrand

Milton / Sheldon – Adam Davey LeGrand, 45, died unexpectedly on Sunday May 24, 2020 at his home in Sheldon. Adam was born on September 10, 1974 in Burlington, the son of Michael and Patricia (Ratte) LeGrand. He graduated from Milton High School in 1992 and from East Coast Aero Tech in Bedford, MA., in 1996 as a licensed aircraft mechanic. He was an outdoorsman and a lover of life. He loved hunting and any type of mechanical work. He was a valued water treatment specialist for Chevalier Well Drilling for the past 4 years. He is survived by the loves of his life Hannah Smith and their son Xander LeGrand. Also surviving is his mother Patty Madsen and her husband Kenny of St. Albans, by his brother Benjamin LeGrand and his wife Valerie of Belvidere and their children Jacob, Gabriel and Paige Strong and her husband Austin and his great nephew Grayson; by his sister Tiffany LeGrand of Franklin and his nieces Lindsey and Kya Gagne. By his father-in-law and mother-in-law Mark Winer and Patricia Osborne and their families. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins. He was predeceased by his father Michael LeGrand. Shared by his brother Ben “Yesterday I lost my little brother Adam LeGrand unexpectedly at the age of 45. 10 SEP 74 till 24 MAY 20...No I do not know why but probably will after the autopsy. It does not really matter how, his bright infectious shit eating grin will never be shared again. Adam was like most little brothers are to their older siblings, annoying always wanting to do things now that I had to wait 3 extra years to do. Usually he won out as he just knew how to blend in with the older boys well enough to not be noticed till something had to be tested. Adam LeGrand had very little fear of testing new things for good or bad. There was no small number of crazy things that needed testing! Adam was the first to be in the water at the local swimming hole in Milton, VT the Vector, usually the last couple weeks of May. Adam lived at full speed he could not sit still. He had a natural affinity for fixing mechanical items (I personally believe this is from taking all of my toys apart as kids, funny his were never in parts....lol). If something went 80 mph Adam was always trying to get 110 mph out of it. If you went for a four wheeler or dirt bike ride with him you better lead because if you did not you would find yourself pushing way to hard to keep up, he just had an innate ability to know where his absolute edge was and he rode it constantly. Like everyone Adam wrestled with demons we all do and sometimes he lost, but he was always willing to get back up brush himself off and try and find a way to win. The next battle!!! Always. My brother like myself was at home in the woods. Where I was always trying to learn all there was to learn about the environment around us, Adam had a quality I always envied he could spot beauty the instant it was happening and point it out to you, this was shown in recent years through the photos he shared on Facebook with us. I will miss this in my life. Adam could create things from discarded items whether beautiful or mechanical he could create. Adam made me a better person we shared the stereotypical age related roles I was the older brother I was to be steadfast and trusted the rock in the storm his safe harbor. I never wanted the job but he was so good at being the roguish little brother and so convincing that I was doing a good job at my role why should we switch....believe me I tried. My brother was the guy who was always great with kids. It was not that he never grew up, it was that he never lost the ability to find wonder and share it every time with that first time enthusiasm. Adam's felt his biggest accomplishment in life was his son Xander LeGrand. When you spent time with Adam his energy and passion for finding beauty in things whether in nature or mechanical was so infectious, sometimes tiring but he was always full bore and you got used to it. I think this ability did come at a cost to my brother he gave a little piece of himself in everything he did, and he never learned how to replace those pieces he gave away. I will miss my little brother so much especially the shit eating grin he would give you right before he did something that was going to leave you shaking your head. Go with God bro help him find the beauty in our world that is missing as of late, if anyone can help a god it would be you!! If anyone reading this has pictures of my belated brother I would very much appreciate it if you shared them with me...everyone is a piece I can still keep of him.
