Jeanne Trinko Mechler posted a condolence

I think of Alex every time I use the super-long metal shoe horn he made for every member of the choir. I didn’t realize the metal shoe horn connection to his career in sheet metal industry until I read his obituary. I will miss how he would say the hymn numbers in French “deux cent soixante-quatre”and his greetings in French “Bon Soir” “Commet allez vous, mon ami" he would say to Tony Martin as we would enter or leave practice. They would be looking up the hymn numbers and he'd be chatting with Tony in the pew behind his wife, Caryl, and she would be hushing him during the church service. He sang for nearly 70 years with the Holy Family/St Lawrence choir and he will be greatly missed by all.
I will think of him in heaven singing in French with Mary and Jesus
"J'irai la voir un jour". Au ciel, au ciel, au ciel,
The words of that French song translated: I will see her one day In heaven, in my garden Yes, I will see Mary My joy and my love In the sky, in the sky, in the sky I will see her one day In the sky, in the sky, in the sky I will see her there one day I will see her one day I will join with the angels To sing her praises And to form her court I will see her one day This beautiful virgin Soon I will be beside her To Tell her of my love I will see her one day. I will go near her throne To receive my crown In eternal rest I will see her one day I will go far from the earth Upon my mother's heart Rest without return.
God rest his soul and may God comfort Caryl in her loss.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Mechler

To Alex's Family,
I would like to express my deepest condolences at Alex's passing. Back when I was attending college, I worked with Alex at VT Heating and Ventilating Co. I fondly remember how he took me under his wing and taught me many, many tips and techniques for laying out complex sheet metal fittings and how to carefully work copper for decorative hoods etc. He was an excellent craftsman and skilled teacher from whom I learned a great deal about problem solving. I know that his teachings served me well through the years as an engineer. Please know that he will always be remembered and appreciated.
Sincerely
Bill Howard

Caryl,
Larry and I are still in shock and are so sad to learn of Alex’s passing. He was always a true gentleman. The Monday bridge session at the Senior Center will never quite be the same again without him. We will miss is sly humor, self-depreciation and his helpfulness. Personally, I’m so happy he non-welded a fix to my wire trash bin. The second time was a charm, and I’ll always thank him.

Caryl,
Please accept the deepest sympathies on behalf of Fab-Tech, Inc. Alex was a incredible craftsman as well as a great teacher. Working well into his nineties, Alex set the highest expectations not only for himself but all he worked with. I always will remember your stories of Alex's early years of hardship in Quebec during the Great Depression. Alex's journey was long, He had achieved incredible successes both professionally and personally. Thank you for opportunity to know him better.
