Dearest Debbie and Family,
My heart goes out to all of you as you navigate this journey ahead. David was truly one of a kind. He was hard working, caring, thoughtful and a true romantic. I always enjoyed hearing stories about ways he honored Debbie on anniversaries and holidays, like the iPhone gift for Christmas a few years back. What a clever and creative guy!
My favorite memory of him would have to be from the summer pool days. The ladies from school would be there gearing up for the year ahead. David would pull in the driveway after a long day of work but walk right over to the table to sit with us. He'd listen to us gabbing about inservice or setting up our classrooms. I'm sure he wanted to get cleaned up after working all day but you never would have known it. He would set down his lunchbox and ask each of us how we were doing. He was always so caring, considerate, and genuine. He had such a great sense of humor. His smile was infectious. Everyone loved David Byers!
It is an understatement to say he fought a courageous battle. I am truly inspired by how strong and determined he was through all the challenges and obstacles that came his way. He was brave, he was strong and he was loved.
What a life, what a legacy.

To my dear friend Debbie,
Words can not express the emotions of losing your best friend and our hearts go out to you. I have many fond memories of our times together on Sandhill and Foster Road, and more recently how you and David stepped right up to help us rebuild our home after Hurricane Irene. David always arrived with a smile. We are forever grateful for his service and generosity to us. He will be dearly remembered and sincerely missed. Please let us be here for you in whatever way you may need.
Sincerely,
Laurie and Mike

Dear Debbie,
As I sit here reading about your life with Dave it makes me smile and cry at the same time. My last real conversation with Dave was when he was planning your surprise Anniversary massage. He said "There are just so many flowers and jewelry you can buy after 30 years...massage is the way to go" I said I half agreed because jewelry is Still a good option" Debbie I know you will get through this difficult time because you are an amazing strong lady...Please reach out to us should you need anything at all. Our hearts are breaking for your loss of the most amazing man.
With all our love and sympathy.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dave thru my husband. I felt like I had known Dave even before I met him. Mark filled me in on what a great guy Dave was.
Talk about a presence in a room! He always had a smile on his face and his eyes sparked with happiness. He always made me laugh and I enjoyed hearing his stories about him and Mark growing up. Mark and I sat up last night talking about all the adventures they had. I watched Mark light up and get sad as he talked about those adventures. We will keep talking about Dave as he was a big part of Mark’s life.
I’m glad I had the pleasure and honor of knowing Dave.
It’s such a terrible loss. He will live on in our hearts and I hope the amazing adventures and memories help heal a lot of hearts.
My heart breaks for Judy, Joann, Debbie, their families and his endless amount of friends. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Love,
Tina

I have been blessed to have been a friend of Dave's since his family moved in 3 houses down from our family in the mid 60's. From the day I met him and we were rolling down the hill in his backyard in card board boxes until just a week ago when we betting on the out come of the Vikings Cowboys game (Dave won the bet) and all the time and adventures in between I've never had a better friend.
He was such an amazing, funny, kind, caring man. I've never had a better friend than Dave. You will be sorely missed buddy!
Debbie, Joann and Judy my thoughts and prayers go out to all of you and your families and we will stay in touch.

I am so sorry to hear this news and thankful that David left so many "footprints of memories" on our lives. Dave was always a good sport when the kids were little and they would scare him with a snake prize knowing he didn't like them; or the "things that go bump in the night" in an old house and I would tell him "think Casper". LOL Days boating on the lake, various gatherings, and so much more. Debbie, my thoughts and prayers have been with you through all of this and will continue to be with you. May all the good memories bring you peace.

Our family is heartbroken that you’re not here in this world with us all. David your love for life, your wife, and you family and friends always showed. You gave of yourself to so many including our family. We will cherish all the memories, golfing, as well as the day you came for the super bowl at our home and Steve had your seat all ready in the snow bank so you could see the tv through the window. All in good fun and you always took the shenanigans with good humor. You taught us to be loving kind, generous and more. Through our friendship you accepted both my “families” and supported me/us more than you know. The BBQs, pool parties and miller high life’s will never be the same. We will continue to be in the lives of your closest loved ones, Debbie, Judy and Joann & Billy and their families. Thank you sir for the your love, generosity and genuine care for all those around you. You battled with courage and hope these last months of your life. You of all people shouldn’t have had to struggle as hard as you did. We love you “our friend” and will miss your contagious smile, laugh and hugs. Rest In Peace our dear friend ~ Steve, Pam, Sam and Taylor Fontaine
