Obituary of Guy David Sweeney

Colchester – Guy “David” Sweeney, 86, died peacefully early Wednesday morning, September 18, 2019 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

David was born in Colchester on January 19, 1933, the son of Emery and Lena (Caderact) Sweeney.

He graduated from High School in Milton and shortly later enlisted in the Army Reserves.

On October 2, 1954, he married Eraldine “Sandy” Bicknell at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Shelburne.

He transferred to the Air National Guard, where he completed his 42 years and 11 month career.   

He loved the woods around his home, woodworking and enjoyed his job with the Guard.

David is survived by his children Stephen Sweeney of Minneapolis Minnesota, Stewart Sweeney and his wife Kayoko of Colchester and his daughter-in-law Cindy Sweeney of No. Hero. He is also survived by his granddaughter Jessica and his great grandson Benjamin.  

He was predeceased by his wife Eraldine “ Sandy” Sweeney and his son Scott Sweeney.

At David’s request, there will be no visiting hours, however, a Mass in his memory will be at St. Ann Catholic Church on Monday October 7, 2019 at  7:00 PM  .
