Obituary of George Louis Perry

Milton – George Louis Perry, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 12, 2019 at the Arbors in Shelburne.

George was born on December 19, 1932 in St. Albans, the son of Louis and Alice (Farrell) Perry.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean Era, working as an aircraft mechanic.

On May 11, 1957, he married Jacqueline Lavoie, who predeceased him in 2010.  They were married for over 53 years.

George was one of the original 400 hires when IBM started in Essex Jct. in 1957, retiring in 1987.  He loved boating, duck and deer hunting, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles.  George was an avid outdoorsman, passing it on to his children. He coached Little League, and was also a great hockey Dad, sometimes watching 3 to 4 games in a day. He was also a huge Ham Radio enthusiast. He and Jackie wintered in North Port, FL for many years.  He also loved his cats and was well known as a practical joker.

George is survived by his sons Glenn Perry and his wife Karen of Poland, Maine and their children Benjamin Perry & his wife Amanda, Emily Belle Rinchich and her husband Nicholas, Sally Goulet and her husband Aaron, Rachel Haushalter and her husband Josh and Maggie Perry;  Bryan Perry of Swanton and his daughter Amanda Perry; Duane Perry and his wife Valerie of Aurora, Colorado and their children Tyler and Andrea Perry; and Bradley Perry and his wife Allison of Milton and their daughter Megan Perry.  He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, Tanner, Connor, Landon, Elijah, Abby, Hannah, Tucker, Ashton and Cole, his son-in-law James Baker of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, his sister Ruth Garner of Essex Jct., his sisters-in-laws Theresa Gross and Annette Blouin and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to Jackie, George was predeceased by his daughter Ann Baker, his sister Barbara Perry Sweeney and his in-laws Al Garner, Ron Gross, Noel Blouin, Bill Sweeney, Claudette and Henry Tringle.

George’s family would like to give special thanks to the Dr. Zail Berry and the staff at the Arbors in Shelburne and The Homestead in St. Albans for the excellent care given to George over the years.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday June 17, 2019 from 4-7pm at the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton with a funeral service following at 7pm in the Minor Funeral Home.

Burial will be on Tuesday June 18, 2019 at 11am in the Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Albans.
