John was a one of a kind gentleman. He was kind, understanding, and a joy to be around. We truly enjoyed his personal and historical stories. We will miss hearing his voice and boisterous laugh at our 321st reunions. I remember Linda telling me the story of how they met, dated, got engaged and married. John had found his true love and went after it many years ago. And Linda, that same love was obviously still there to the end. Our love and blessing are sent to you this day.

We extend sincere sympathy to all John's family. He loved his family next to God, both woven into all his words and deeds. None who ever knew him will forget his generosity and broad smile. John's service to church and community will be missed, and always remembered.

My deepest sympathy to the Lake family. I will never forget all those rides to and from high school all those years ago. I took it for granted at the time, but now I know that driving teenagers to school isn't a fun task. Mr. Lake was always there every day to pick up and drop off and I will always be grateful for that. I'm glad I got to talk with him a few years ago at my Uncle's funeral, we got to reminisce about the old days.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Such a dear Man and amazing mind for telling us about history whenever a proper occasion would occur. I always thought he was a person to emulate when he could weave his stories and dates and details into the conversations in which he would find himself. Surely this world will be a sorrier place without John Lake to be with us! May he be blessed forever in the hands of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and aren't we blessed for having known this lovely, kind man!?! May your family get through this time together and know there are so many who pray for your days ahead! With much love through Christ who loves us first...Susan and Jerry
