Trenien Conner

Obituary of Trenien Joanne Conner

Isle LaMotte, VT. - Trenien Joanne Conner, 81, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family, Friday evening December 28, 2018 after a brave and arduous journey with Mantle Cell Lymphoma and Alzheimer’s disease.

Trenien was born January 6, 1937 in Lompoc, California, the daughter of the late Alfred and Velma Martin Galloway of Santa Barbara, California.  She graduated from Santa Barbara High School and met the love of her life, Clarence William (Bill) Conner. They were married November 26, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this last November.  Bill and Trenien resided in Santa Barbara for many years before moving to Redlands, California; Seattle, Washington; and then Malibu California. Trenien loved the ocean and felt happiest there. Her favorite location was Point Dume in Malibu, where she would walk the beach daily enjoying the sounds and feel of the ocean.

Trenien began developing her artistic talents in her early adult years, first as a painter working mainly in oils. When she and Bill retired to Prescott, Arizona she began quilting and beading. Sometimes her beading was used in her quilting medium, but she also created magnificent beaded jewelry.  Trenien’s quilts were award winning in design and were displayed in the Prescott Arizona Historic Downtown Museum and published in Quilter’s Magazine. She was a member of the Thumb Butte Quilters’ Guild, Prescott.

Trenien was a resilient and strong woman who raised three daughters and loved her family. She was a homemaker, extraordinary cook and baker, played bridge, volunteered her time at the Thrift Store and as a member of the Altar Guild at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Bellevue, Washington.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence William Conner, and her two daughters, Jeanette O’Conor of Isle LaMotte, with whom she recently resided; and Sharon Gadzik and her husband Charlie of Newcastle, Washington.  She is the grandmother of Christian and Jamie Surber of Bonney Lake, Washington, Daniel Surber of Lynnwood, Washington, Kaitlyn Surber of Seattle, Washington, Jamison Wells of Newcastle, Washington, Kelly Marie Pitcher of Newcastle, Washington, and Kilian Bronson of Lyme, New Hampshire. She is the great grandmother of Liam Conner and Lucy Ellen Margaret Wells, and Lillian and Amelia Surber. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Stacy Conner-Daily of Brinnon, Washington and her sister, Gretchen Lusink of Eatonville, Washington.

Rest eternal and let light perpetual shine upon her. Trenien was well loved and will be missed.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the hospice team of UVM Home Health & Hospice for their loving care and support.

A service will be held in the spring at St. Anne’s Shrine in Isle LaMotte. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Maya Institute to support the Compassion Campaign for family members of loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease.
