Obituary of Norman J. Marcotte

Shelburne - Norman J. Marcotte, 87, Our father / Pepere, died at his home of 59 years on Tuesday December 11, 2018, lovingly cared for by his family. 

            Norman was the fourth born child to Edmond and Laura (Bedard) Marcotte in Charlotte, on July 2, 1931.                        

            Norman had been a hard worker his entire life. He built a barn for his father in his early teen years, and his first home in Shelburne in 1950.  He married Rita A. Poirier on August 25, 1951 at St. Francis Church Winooski, VT, by Father Dupree.  They moved into their newly built home on their wedding day. Norman & Rita were married 65 years when she predeceased him in December 2016.                      

Norman is survived by his and Rita’s four children and spouses/partners: Norma Blow of St. Albans, Roger and Dorrene Marcotte of Williston, Gary Marcotte and Annette Labombard of Shelburne, Julie and Jon Kent of Shelburne and his former daughter-in-law Diane Marcotte of Shelburne.  He was equally blessed with 11 grandchildren, William (Liz) Schultheiss; Anthony (Sara) Blow; Erin, Jim (Nick Esposito), and Kathy (Shane Abrams) Marcotte; Rebeckah (John) Scrivo; Tim (Liz), Jeremy and Taylor (Stephanie) Marcotte; Eliza and Ian Kent; and 11 great grandchildren.  Norman also leaves a large extended family that he loved and enjoyed.                

            Besides his wife he was predeceased by son-in-law Stephan Blow and granddaughter Beth Anne Kent. 

Norman leaves behind a legacy of a family business that has been 65 years strong, Marcotte Appliance, as well as near and dear to his heart Clay Farm equipment.  

            Visiting hours will be held on Sunday December 16, 2018 from 1-4pm in the Minor Funeral & Cremation Center in Milton.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday December 17th at Noon at St. Catherine’s Church in Shelburne.
