I am so shocked and so very sorry.
A couple months ago, I had the opportunity to sit on a porch overlooking the lake, with two of my favorite teachers ever. We talked about so many things, laughed so hard, and just relaxed. When I left, we shared "I Love You"s.
That is a time that will be my mind and heart forever.
Love To You Paul and all of your family.

Paul, Brad and family - I am sorry for your loss. Mrs. Hamel (since she was my teacher I always referred to her as that) was an amazing woman. She meant a lot to me as a middle schooler growing up and was a great supporter while coaching Brad. I am definitely saddened to hear of this news.
Brad - I understand the loss and pain of losing a parent, especially your mom. I am praying that you find some peace during this time. Feel free to reach out to me anytime.
All my love
Bob

Paul, Brad and all family ...Betti and I wish to express our sincerest condolences on the passing of Marilyn. We are shocked. Paul... I just saw you the other day at the barber shop and had no idea when I left that maybe something was up. I just hope peace can come soon for the Hamel family. Brad... your mom was a gem and a pillar of support for you as you grew up and her "extended family" of students that she educated over the years. We are very sorry for your loss. Sincerely...Dave and Betti

Paul, Brad, Emily, Colby & Cormac,
Marilyn ...wow, what a lady, smart, strong, determined, witty and for those she cared about a huge giving heart. Marilyn was my role model when I began teaching. She just seemed to know how to challenge/push her students so that they would reach beyond where they thought they could while knowing when to pull back and let laughter be part of the classroom experience. Marilyn told it "like it was" and her students and colleagues knew exactly where she stood on any matter. From chats with her students (who were also my students) I know how much they loved & respected Marilyn. She impacted in big and small ways so many lives during her teaching career. Those of us blessed to have been able to call her a friend, we will tuck our memories of Marilyn into our hearts and will pull out those warm and funny moments when our sadness seems a lot to handle.

Dear Paul and Family,
I am so very sorry to hear of Marilyn’s death. I taught with her at Essex Middle School for many years. Marilyn was a no nonsense woman who I loved teaching with. Please accept my sincere condolences. I know nothing written here can take away your sorrow, but please know there are people who can shoulder some of your grief.
