Please accept my sincere condolences on John's passing. Its shocking and heartbreaking. I knew John for most of my life, and while growing up, found myself always impressed at his athletic gifts, genuine kindness, and regard for others. You simply wanted to be around him. We played softball together at a recent high school reunion and he still had IT. It was great to see him.
So sorry for your loss.

WHAT? I had no idea!.... All John ever did, since the day he met me about 6 years ago, was try to be my friend. He didn't know me at all but he was friendly from day one. What a great guy, and I loved our back and forth. Gonna miss him on the lanes...

A long time friend- from classroom and recess time at CP Smith, the Birch Court and Cayuga Court days of magnet tag all the way to grown up and enjoying barstools jokes and fun during visits back to Vermont. You are loved and missed by many. Hugs and prayers to the family. Here’s to rolling the ball in the winter and watching it fly in the summer. You have peace now. Love and Laughter today and after, Susie.

I am in shock and just can't believe that you are gone.
Such a great guy. I saw how you were on the lanes on Friday Nigh mixed, always encouraging and giving high 5's and wanting to improve your game and still helping everyone around you, and that is why I asked you to be on our team for Thursday night because I saw what a great teammate you were. We loved having you on our team and it was a pleasure bowling with you and getting to know you. I will never forget how you would help me when I got frustrated with everyone giving me different advice while I was bowling and you would say, that isn't how you bowl, just throw your ball, just do you, and it always helped! You will be missed very much my friend! Rest in peace!

To a cousin that I did not know very well but the family is close to me. I look back with fond memories of your brothers and sisters. You were 8 years old when I graduated from high school. Your mom did talk a lot about you with us and I got to know about you through her. She loved you and all her kids and it came across in the way she reflected to me. She never portrayed any bad things, only good, loving and funny things and that is how I got to know you. thank you for being her son and my cousin. May all our love and prayers go with you Joh Newton.

What the Heck? I'm still in shock and still can't believe what I'm reading. This happened way too fast. I got the pleasure of bowling with and against John last summer and last fall at Spare Time. John would be the first one to give me a "high 5" if he was nearby on a good shot or give knuckles with a bit of encouragement on a spare that was missed. John was what I look for in a team mate or opponent. Competitive, supportive and encouraging. League will not be the same without you. RIP my friend.

I will forever cherish the wonderful memories from over the years. There are some people who just stay with you. You have been one of those. You will be missed dearly my friend. Fly high, rest easy. Thanks for the memories, John! I’ll never forget hanging out at Rasputin’s and Texas with the gang and singing “Mony Mony” at the top of our lungs! We were young and fearless, and had the time of our lives. John was loved and looked up to by so many. My condolences to the Newton and Shortsleeve families. I’m certain Tommy’s been waiting to welcome him and that he’s at peace.
