Obituary of Barbara Jean Lockerby
North Hero – Barbara J. (Michels) Lockerby, 64, died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the Vermont Respite House in Colchester, following a good life and a long battle with cancer.
Barb was born on March 22, 1954 in Englewood, NJ, the daughter of Clifford and Rosemarie (Volpicelli) Michels.
She attended Johnson State College.
On May 30th, 2009 Barb married Mark Lockerby at the Knight Point State Park in North Hero.
In addition to Mark, she is survived by her mother Rosemarie of Williston, her sister Kim T Julow and her husband Chris, her brother David Michels, her uncle Anthony Volpicelli, her mother-in-law Phyllis Richardson, her nephew and nieces Andrew and Corinn Julow and their daughters Natalie and Kayla; Lindsey Julow and her sons Aidan and Archer.
Barb had worked for the Pomerleau Insurance Agency and Pomerleau Real Estate for over 25 years, and loved every minute of it. Thank you to everyone there for unfailing love, support, comfort and prayers. Special thanks to Ernie and Brian for making a wonderful, fun and productive company to work for, and for all your help and understanding during my illness. Barb is also survived by an amazing group of lifetime friends, always there throughout the years, thru great times and hard times, Pat, Sharon, Deb and Barb. With special thanks to Corinn and Tamara. Thank you for being a part of my life and for letting me be a part of yours. And special thanks to my sister Kim, my strength, my confidence and my hero. You were with me from day one of this nasty battle and never let me go thru any of it alone. You were the very best sister anyone could ever have.
Barb would like to also give special thanks to all the caring doctors, staff and nurses at the University of VT Medical Center, especially in the Chemo Dept. and to the wonderful VNA who supported her during this time.

Visiting hours will be on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 3-6pm in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
Funeral Services will be on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at 2 pm in the So. Hero Congregational Church in So. Hero.
