Obituary of Valada Lorraine Richards
Milton – Valada “Bunny” Richards, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 1, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 13, 1931, in Burlington, the daughter of the late Josephine Pray. She lived in So. Hero with her grandfather and grandmother, the late Warren and Clara Bruleigh. Upon the death of her grandfather in 1941, Valada moved with her grandmother to Burlington and attended parochial schools in Burlington.
After high school, Bunny moved to Milton. She married her husband, Robert “Bob” Richards in 1948. The couple began and owned a successful dairy farm on Lake Road in Milton for many years. Bob predeceased her in 2002. The couple enjoyed a marriage of 54 years.
Bob and Bunny raised seven children, who survive her, Diana Peirce and her husband Tim of Vista, CA., Kathleen McDonald and her husband Jon of Minnesota, Donald Richards and his wife Teresa, Susan Bluto and her husband Larry, Michael Richards, Linda St. Peter and her husband Bryan and Sandy Richards and her fiancé Mike Thomas, all of Milton, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 13 great greatgrandchildren, her sister Patricia Bouley of Mississippi and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Bob, Bunny was predeceased by her brothers Mickey, Robert, Raymond and Beaver Bruleigh and her sister Theresa Shelton.
In 1976, Bunny was chosen as VERMONT MOTHER OF THE YEAR.
Bunny leaves her church family, along with many friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday April 6, 2018 from 11-1 pm in the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton. A Funeral Service will follow at 1pm in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Miltonboro Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
