Obituary of Alfred Leo Pepin

Milton, VT. / The Villages, Fl.  – Alfred Leo “Fred” Pepin, 68, died peacefully with his wife by his side on Wednesday March 7, 2018 in Williston.

Fred was born on May 5, 1949 in Colchester, the son of Alfred Pepin Sr. and Clara (Duffy) Pepin.

Fred served for 41 years in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard, with deployments in Vietnam, Macedonia and

Afghanistan.

On October 18, 1986, he married Caroline Frances Dauphinais.

He had worked as a mechanical engineer for the US Naval Observatory and self-employed as Al Pepin and Son’s Plumbing and Heating.

Fred loved golfing with his friends in Florida, and enjoyed a good meal and lots of laughter with his good friends.  His favorite times were attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and his son’s fishing tournaments.  He also loved socializing with his many friends at the Eagles Club, and American Legion, and the country

clubs in The Villages.

In addition to his wife Caroline, he is survived by their children Karen Hammond and her husband Matthew of Milton, Shawn Gokey and his wife Amy of Georgia, , by his grandchildren Riley, Brody and Nathan, Nathan’s mother Stephanie, his mother-in-law Maureen Dauphinais of Dunedin, Fl., brother Harley Brown Sr.,  the Dauphinais family in-laws and by several aunts, nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his son Eric in 2015 and by his brother Earl Hall, sister Bertha Brown and his grandmother Alice Duffy.

The family would also like to acknowledge the love and friendship of two special friends, Thomas and Barbara Haraden, of Williston, Vermont.

Memorial contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495 or to the Chittenden County Humane Society, 142 Kindness Court, So. Burlington, VT 05403

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday March 14, 2018 from 3-5pm in the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton.  A Funeral Service will follow at 5pm in the Funeral Home, with a reception following at the Milton Eagles Club.  Burial will be in the spring at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, at the discretion of the family.
