Obituary of Brian Edward Desranleau

Milton – Brian Edward Desranleau, 72, died peacefully, with his loving family by his side, Tuesday January 30, 2018, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. 

Brian was born on January 11, 1946 in Burlington, the son of Emile and Katherine (Bushey) Desranleau.

He graduated from Milton High School in 1964 and Champlain College in 1966 with an associates in business.   He married Dale Wimble on April 11, 1970 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Milton.

In 1966, he enlisted in the Vermont Air National Guard, where he retired in 2005, as Chief Master Sergeant, and served as Motor Vehicle Superintendent.  He also retired from the Civil Service with the Air Guard in 2001. 

Brian enjoyed playing cards and cribbage, he loved flying and his corvettes and being with his family.  He was a perfectionist in both his professional and personal life, especially with motor vehicle maintenance, and in teaching his children and grandchildren through hands on experience his many talents.

He was proud to purchase the family homestead following his father’s death.  He took great pride in restoring his childhood home.

Brian is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Dale Desranleau of Milton, and by his children Heather Crawford and her husband Patrick “PJ” of Sheldon, Angela Ricci and her husband Michael of Poland Springs, Maine, Gerrit Desranleau and his wife Connie of Milton and by Erin Hibbard of Milton.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as Bumpa, Wyatt, Justin, Kenyon, Kaitlyn, Paige and Gage, his very special grand dog Willow.  Brian is also survived by his siblings Sally Lombard Young, John Desranleau and his wife Annie, James Desranleau and his wife Jill, Katherine Russell and her partner Lewis Peltier, Jacqueline Kendrew and her husband Gary, Daniel Desranleau and his wife Ellen Partnoy, Brent Desranleau and his partner Caroline Rabideau, by his sister-in-law Jean Desranleau and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Emile Gary, by his brother-in-law’s Alton Lombard Sr., Robert Young and Thomas Russell.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday February 4, 2018 from 2-6pm in the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton, with prayers offered by Fr. Feltz at 6pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial with Military honors will be held on Monday February 5, 2018 at 11am in St. Ann Catholic Church in Milton.
