Clayton Forgan Sr.

Obituary of Clayton Bruce Forgan Sr.

Milton – Clayton B. Forgan Sr. 74, died suddenly in his home on Thursday, January 11, 2018, following a long illness.

Clayton was born on October 3, 1943 in Taunton, Massachusetts (as he referred to “God’s Country”), the son of Alexander and Charlotte (Ashley) Forgan. He graduated from Taunton High School in 1961 and shortly afterwards enlisted in the United States Navy. He was a radio technician and proudly served our country during the Vietnam War. After receiving an honorable discharge, he further pursued his education in various trade school certifications.

On September 24, 1966 he married the love of his life Linda L. (Bedard) Forgan of Milton, VT at the Milton Memorial Methodist Church.

Clayton was a proud member of the Masons, belonging to the Masonic Grand Lodge of Taunton, Massachusetts. He had wide interest in his Scottish heraldry including membership to his family clan, McDuff and his induction into the Shiners–Scottish Rite. Clayton loved learning about his family history, including of the Forgan Golf Clubs, produced in Scotland and embossed with the kings crest.

Clayton will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda of Milton and their four children, Cheri and her husband Lance Little of Colchester, Michelle and her husband Rick Paya of Georgia, Clayton Jr. and his wife Tina Forgan of Fairfax, Nicole Forgan and her partner Patrick Ducharme of Milton. He also left behind 13 loved and pampered grandchildren, Alex and Jordan Little, Cory and Tyler Paya, Garret and Nate Forgan, Brandon & Erin Langevin, Bryce, Lilyanna and Zachary Ducharme, Jared Baron and Alexis Stillwell. Clayton also leaves behind his special pets Ollie and Wilson, they will be lost without him. Clayton is survived by a large extended family, many friends including his Milton Diner comrades and neighborhood friends. He is predeceased by his father and mother, Alec and Charlotte.

My husband and our dad was very fond of all his life experiences, many stories to tell and bridges to sell. His life employment ranged from serving as a Correctional Officer in Walpole, MA, as a police officer for Dighton and Rehobeth, Massachusetts, real estate salesman/broker and salesman in the food industry, he enjoyed any social contact. Clay, as many referred to him, could talk about anything to anyone. He was a regular at the Milton Diner, he was a Charter member of the Eagles Club in Milton, a member of the American Legion, he even held a seat on the Milton Building, Planning and Zoning Board.

Honey, 51 years would not have been the same without you. When I was serious your antics would make me laugh, I would always remark how crazy you were. That crazy picked me and together we made so many wonderful memories. I wasn’t prepared for you to leave me. I feel lost without you. Until I am in your arms again … I will love you forever my love.

Daddy, you were an amazing man that taught so many life lessons, tried to steer each of us in the right direction, even when we thought we knew better. You were the happiest with little ones around you, hugs and kisses freely given while you joked around calling them pet names or making funny faces. It saddens us thinking how many memories have still not been set, but we know that each goal we accomplish, baby that is born, graduation, wedding or birthdays, you will always be present and smiling, sending us signs of your love. We love you and miss you, until we are together again.

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 4 to 7pm at the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7  in Milton, a Masonic memorial service will be held during this time.

In celebration of Clayton’s life, military honors will be accorded following the funeral service which will commence at 11am on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the United Church of Milton located on Main Street.
