Obituary of Constance Audrey Baker Bluto

Grand Isle 

Constance (Baker) Bluto, died December 31, 2017.

Connie was born on December 4, 1924 in Grand Isle where she grew up.  The daughter of Andrew and Laura Baker in a family of 14 children.

She married her husband Edward on January 25, 1943 and moved in on the farm that he had purchased the year before.  He passed away in December of 2012, a month before they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

During her life on the farm, they raised four children.  She not only cared for their children and the house but often milked cows and helped harvest the hay.

Later years she worked at UVM and Champlain College.  And then she worked for the Graves family at Westerly for over 30 plus years, not retiring until she was 85.  For many years, she volunteered doing Funeral Luncheons for the Catholic Church.

Connie is survived by her daughters, Carol Racine and husband Tom, Terri Seward and husband Bill, her son Bradley Bluto and wife Betsy, her daughter-in-law Judy Bluto.  Her grandchildren: Julie Elkins and husband Scott, Gina Sears and husband Michael, Shellie Metivier and friend Chad, Edward R. Bluto Jr. and friend Diane, Benjamin Seward and wife Christina, and Geoffrey Abbott.  Great-grandchildren: Troy and Casey Metivier; Lindsey, Meagan, and Andrew Sears; Luke and Seth Elkins.  Six great-great-grandchildren.  Also her brothers: Andrew and Robert Baker and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Connie was predeceased by her husband Edward W. Bluto and her son Edward R. Bluto, her parents and eleven siblings.

Connie will be dearly missed by her family and remembered for her genuine kindness and caring.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VT Respite House, 3113 Roosevelt Highway, Colchester, VT 05446 or C.I.D.E.R., P.O. Box 13, South Hero, VT  05486

Visiting Hours will be held today from 4 to 8 pm in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grand Isle.
