Obituary of Charles Norman Tourville, Jr
South Hero, Charles Norman Tourville, Jr, 86 of South Hero passed away peacefully on Sunday October 22, 2017 in the University of Vermont Medical Center with his granddaughter Tania by his side.
Junior was born November 8, 1930 in South Hero, the son of the late Charles and Irene Baker Tourville. In 1947 he went to work for the Rutland Railroad work crew in Chatham, NY helping to repair damage from the major flood of the Hoosick River that year that took out much of the tracks belonging to the Rutland Railroad.
On September 14, 1951 he married Bernita Martin in South Hero. They resided on the Tourville Family Farm which together they ran until 1966. He was later the Road Commissioner for the Town of South Hero until 1991.
An avid outdoorsman, Junior loved to fish and hunt.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bernita Tourville and their six children; Randy and his partner Wendy, Cindy Gokey and her husband John Byron, Pamela Tourville and her partner Robert Lamphere, Susan Uljua and her husband James, Todd Tourville and Jerry Tourville and his wife KathyJean; Fifteen Grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; His two brothers, Frank Tourville and his wife, Pearl of Orangeburg, SC and Donald Tourville and his wife, Elaine of Singer Island, FL as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Thomas earlier this year; His brothers, Norman, Virgil and Larry Tourville and his sisters, Leola Santor, Shirley Martin and Patricia Jones.
Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, October 26th from 4 to 8 pm in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 27th at 11 am in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in South Hero. Burial will follow in the South Hero Village Cemetery.
