I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of Jimi's family. For right now, there's no detour around grief, no shortcut through mourning. However, 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, "... power beyond what is normal ", to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry, or that we forget. It means we recover. We recover because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28 which says, "...all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out ". Jesus was referring to the resurrection. That is our amazing hope! The Bible likens our hope to an anchor. Just like an anchor stabilizes a ship, our hope stabilizes us and keeps us from drowning in overwhelming sadness. 2 Cor.1:3 describes our Creator as, "... the God of all comfort ". One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort be your comfort now, during this time of sorrow. My deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Jimi Aikey. I remember going to school with Jimi, and many "boot camp" sessions at Ultimate Fitness with Jimi years after that. He would always make sure to blast "California Love" in our sessions. I'm not sure, but I think that may have been one of his favorite songs at the time. To this day, whenever I hear that song I think of Jimi and exercising! I will always remember Jimi, his big smile that seemed to light up the world, and his passion for family, friends, and fitness.

Joey, Deb and family,
I was shocked to find out of your loss, I am so very sorry for you and your family. I met Jimi at the bingo and was so hurt to find out about his passing I just pray for your pain that it get's better in time but it is relieving to know that him and Janelle are waiting. Jimi was a vibrant individual that was gone,too soon. I didn't know Jimi as well as some but I was blessed to have met him and I knew a little about him because of high school but mainly his sister Janelle whom I knew from school and the Datnoff family. Two amazing individuals that made everyone's day with a smile. I remember how much Jimi missed his sister when she passed and although he is not here with all of us, knowing he is with Janelle again makes me feel at peace. To Jimi's Mom, Dad, family and friends
I'd like to extend my condolences during this sad and difficult time. I knew Jimi from when he worked and trained at Ultimate Fitness, as I was a member at UF for several years. During those years Jimi led a group of lifters, Charlie P., little Dan, Gerry, Chocolate Milk(Ryan), Charlie D., Josh L, Dan F., Chip, myself & many others, into becomming better and stronger weight lifters. As hard as Jimi worked out himself, he trained other lifters just as hard and pushed us to reach our goals and personal records. There is almost an endless number of emotions to feel when someone you care about passes on. I would like to believe that when we lose someone close to us, they still live through us and give us strength. The time we have spent with those we've lost makes them part of us.
