Obituary of Phyllis Sandra Gilbeau

Westford – Phyllis Sandra Gilbeau, 78, died peacefully with her loving family by her side, on Thursday August 3, 2017, following a courageous bout with cancer.

Phyllis was born on April 10, 1939 in Burlington, the daughter of Walter and Roxanne ( Burnor ) Richards.

On June 4, 1955, she married Leon Gilbeau in Essex Junction. They eventually settled in Westford where they raised their family.

Phyllis loved to cook, bake, go to garage sales, to Maine in the summer, and most of all loved spending time with her family.

She had worked for many years for Johnson Controls at IBM.

Surviving are her children Leo Gilbeau of So. Burlington, Sandra Gilbeau of St. Albans, Vicky Broe & her husband Mike and Steve Gilbeau & his wife Patty, all of Westford, Debbie Flowler and her husband Leo of West Rutland and Leon Gilbeau Jr. of Hinesburg.  She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Julie Gilbeau of Fairfax, her grandchildren Jamie, James, Stephen, Danielle, Adam, Michelle, Matthew, Molly and Justin and several great-grandchildren, her brothers Leo Rich and wife Pat, Richard Richards, her sister Patricia Arellano and husband Al, her sister-in-law Shirley Wolford, many nieces and nephews and her lifelong friend Elizabeth “Betty” Poulin and husband Al of Fletcher.

She was predeceased by her husband Leon in 2012, her son Randy in 2003 and her brother Jerry Richards.

Memorial contributions in Phyllis’s memory may be made to the VNA Hospice Palliative Care Program, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT 05446

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday August 8, 2017 from 11-1pm with a Funeral Service following at 1pm in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.  Burial will follow in Sanderson Corners Cemetery in Fairfax.
