It was a privilege to work with Stephen, as well as his niece Amy, during one of the final days of his life. My condolences go out to his family and I wish you all the very best. I hope Stephen has found the most wonderful ocean paradise and is enjoying time on the water right now.

I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of Stephen's family. For right now there's no detour around grief, no shortcut through sorrow. However, 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, ".. power beyond what is normal ", to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry or that we forget, but it means we recover. The reason we recover is because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28, "...all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out ". Jesus was referring to the resurrection, this is our amazing hope! The Bible likens our hope to an anchor. Just like an anchor stabilizes a ship, our hope stabilizes us, prevents us from drowning in overwhelming sadness. 2 Cor.1:3 describes our Creator as, "... the God of all comfort ". One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God comforts be your comfort now during this time of sorrow. For the Donahue Family and all who loved Stephen,
Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.
The tears in my eyes I can wipe away, the ache in my heart will always stay.
Remembering you on this day, comforted by so many memories, laughter and much love.

I read the obituary....beautiful and an accurate description of Stephen!
Such a good, kind, gentle man he was. He was also very patient and understanding with clients at work.
It was a pleasure knowing him, working with him, and an honor to call him my friend! I will always think of him with fondness. We had great conversations and many laughs together. I will miss him.
Gone but not forgotten!!! With love

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Steve for three years at UVMC, and we remained friends after I moved on to a different job. Steve trained me when I first started at UVM. The biggest thing I remember about working with him was how he treated all of the patients like his equals. Steve never condescended to anyone- he always treated patients with complete respect. They knew it too, and I'm sure it made a big difference in many of their lives. He was such a nice, honest, genuine, and friendly guy. The world was a much better place with him in it.

I knew Stephen from UVMC, he was so much fun. I could always count on him to understand and appreciate my incredibly inappropriate humor as he had a similar one. We cussed at each other, laughed, harassed each other but he always had my back and I had his. I am so incredibly sorry for the loss his family must be feeling. He will be missed by not just his family, his friends but the many, many patients who were blessed to have had Stephen care for them. Prayers and love to you all.

To the Donahue Family,
WOW, what a beautiful obituary, (if of course there is such a thing). We are beyond sorry for your loss, I cannot believe he is gone from this earth, hopefully he is conversing with your parents in heaven, and helping anyone in need. I remember his laughter, big hugs, smile that lit up the room, and a warm presence always with him.
We are so sorry for your pain, but you must know that he is no longer suffering, that may sound hard, but it is true, your love for him would have had a hard time watching him suffer for a long, long time. It was his time, one never knows how much we have, we must make every minute count, he DID, and he certainly will be missed by many.
Much Love & Sympathy to all,
Randy & Andrea Carbonneau

My deepest condolences to Steve's family and friends. I hadnt seen Stephen in quite some time...lost touch after high school but had found him on FB a few years ago. Spent many afternoons cruising around, skipping school and hanging out in the good ole days. He was a good friend and a pleasure to be around. He will be missed. Rest easy my friend until we meet again.
