Obituary of Elizabeth "Kaye" Katherine Swainbank

Essex Junction – Elizabeth “Kaye” Swainbank, 74, died peacefully on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the Vermont Respite House in Colchester, surrounded by her loving husband and friends.

Elizabeth was born on July 16, 1942 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph and Helen ( Obermeyer ) Shimmel.

She had graduated from Asbury Park Business College in Asbury, New Jersey, in 1970 with a degree in Business Administration. 

On December 2, 1972, she married Walter “Buzz” Swainbank in Middletown, New Jersey.

She had been employed for Patrick Leahy’s Office in Montpelier and Burlington since 1980, retiring in 2006 after 26 years of service.

In addition to Buzz, Elizabeth is survived by her brothers Dennis Schimmel and Lee Savage, both of Kansas and her sister Diana Schneider, of CA. and by many nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Edward Schimmel and sisters Myrna Warren and Marilyn Bayliss.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the Fairview Cemetery at 11:30 am . in Essex Junction.
