We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Roland. He was such a fixture to the town of Westford. Our sons we placed in his care every day for years as the first person to set the tone for their school day ahead. He was kind, caring, smiling, low-key, and we trusted him to safely deliver them to school and bring them home daily. Thanks, Roland!

While I am so sad that Roland has passed, it was so wonderful to see the Pigeon family after many decades. I have always remembered Roland throughout my adulthood as one of the most kind and naturally good natured happy people I've ever known. As I reminded some family members, Roland carried me up the hill to my front door, when I was eight years old and on crutches, while he was delivering me home as my bus driver. Another funny story is when he drove our class to Parc Safari on our field trip, and a baboon climbed up on the hood of the bus and promptly left a pile right in front of the windshield. Roland just said "well, look at that,he just left us a present!" Of course that set off the whole busload of astonished kids into peals of laughter.
I overheard someone at the calling hours yesterday say that Roland is a big part of Westford history. That is an understatement. I will never forget him, and what a wonderful family he has left behind. My condolences to you all.

Your father, loved one Roland , will be remembered with such love, honor, respect, joy.
I rode his bus, he kept us safe and made us smile. I danced to his wonderful music before I was married and after. Enjoying his talent at concerts!! He will be remembered and missed as the wonderful "legend " that he has been.
My husband John and I shall miss him and we are sending you our heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,

Thoughts and prayers to all Rolands family. I have wonderful memories of visiting with him and his family whenever we made the trip to see my dad's family. All the picnics on the lawn at Grandma and Grandpa's and the Pigeons were always there. Roland meant a lot to my father, I am sure they are visiting together and playing music!!!!! Love to you all!!!!!!!

In life, if we are lucky, there are only a handful of people that we will ever meet that are truly good. Roland was one of the "good ones". Over the course of several years, I had the opportunity to truly get to know him. His stories will always hold a special place in my memory, especially the ones about living on the farm during the depression. Hand sawing firewood for $2.00 per cord was one of his favorites to tell. I imagine all of that wood cutting by hand built Roland's character since there are few other's I've met in my life who's word and handshake were as good as his.
Nettie & family, I express my sincere condolences to you during your time of loss. I'm forever grateful, for having the good fortune of knowing Roland. If you're ever in need, know that I'm only one town away, and gladly will offer my help if you need it.

So sorry to learn of Roland passing away. He was always interested in what I was doing, be it music or working on my Automotive degree. When I was young, the summers that I came by to hang out with him were really great times, and helped me make the choice to get into the auto industry. He was always happy when ever I saw him, and always loved to teach me new tricks. Roland will be missed by everyone in the town.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family at the loss of Roland. Roland was the school bus driver for myself and all of my siblings (family of Roger and Elaine Lavallee) and also to two of my children. In addition, I grew up listening to "Roland and His Happy Ramblers" at the various Westford events. Roland was certainly an icon for Westford. He was a great man, always having a smile and a friendly wave to all. Rest in peace Roland. You will be missed in Westford.
