Obituary of Richard Stanley Powers
North Hero – Richard Stanley Powers, 74, died peacefully on Wednesday March 22, 2017 at the VNA Lois McClure Respite House in Colchester, following a battle with cancer.
Richard was born in Derby, Vermont on June 5, 1942, the son of Gerald and Lucille (Gardner) Powers.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force following high school and was assigned to the radar base in St. Albans, VT.
He was married to Hazel Powers who predeceased him in 2011.
Richard is survived by his brothers Bill Powers of Florida and Keith Powers and his partner Nancy of MA and Fl. He is also survived by his nephew Larry Powers and wife Sandy of North Charleston, his brother-in-law Roy Young and wife Mabel of Williston, several nieces and nephews and his dear neighbors Flo Collins and her daughter Hannah, who looked after Dick during his illness, and whom he thought of as family.
In addition to Hazel, Dick was predeceased by his brother Dean, his sister-in-law Terri Powers and Hazel’s 3 sons.
At Dick’s request, a Graveside service with Military Honors will be held in the spring in the Jerusalem Cemetery in North Hero.
